Lovage Jesmond is the debut restaurant of partners Kleo Tabaku (Head Chef) and Lisa Hide (Front of house manager). Both have taken on this exciting new challenge by leaving their most recent jobs to put all their energy and passion into Lovage.
Kleo has a professional career spanning over 25 years, with experience working in fine dining restaurants to stately homes. Having given up his most current role as Executive Head Chef, Kleo who was born in Albania and previously lived in Italy, has lived in the UK for over 23 years and is now ready to follow his childhood dream.
Lisa who has a degree in Childhood Studies and worked in a local primary school before leaving her role to open Lovage is excited and eager to meet and greet everyone who comes through the door. Jesmond has a fantastic community feel and we can’t wait to make connections and get to know everyone. We are so excited’.
Set in the heart of Jesmond on St George’s Terrace, the restaurant offers an intimate, relaxed setting with dishes created and served by a small team of dedicated chefs and front of house staff.
Lovage has a laidback, friendly atmosphere so whether you are stopping by for lunch, post work drinks and food, dinner, or a Sunday roast – everybody is welcome. Kleo and Lisa take pride in serving fresh, nutritious dishes where seasonal produce, bought locally and foraged will take centre stage. Simplicity is crucial here at Lovage and our ever-changing menu will speak for itself.
The menu itself boasts vibrant and flavourful Mediterranean inspired dishes. Delicious small plates, generous sharing plates and large plates for one are available to enjoy. Additionally, a set menu will be served on Sundays offering a traditional Sunday roast. As the menu is fresh, many of the dishes are gluten free, with a great selection of vegetarian and vegan options too. Complimenting the menu is an extensive yet selective list of drinks – including wine by the glass and bottle, homemade garden cocktails and local beers.
